NEW ORLEANS - University of New Orleans head men's basketball coach
Mark Slessinger appeared on Yahoo Sports Radio last night..
The interview was available on Yahoo Sports Radio affiliates nationally, including WIST 690 AM in New Orleans. The broadcast was available on Sirius 94, XM 208 and online at
http://www.yahoosportsradio.com.
Slessinger hit the airwaves to discuss a story published on Yahoo Sports web site on the UNO athletic program entitled, “Seven years after Hurricane Katrina, University of New Orleans hoops still trying to find firm footing”.
The story was written by Yahoo Sports' Jeff Eisenberg, who toured Lakefront Arena and Maestri Field during a campus visit on Apr. 2. Eisenberg documents the University's plans to remain NCAA Division I, while explaining the rationale behind UNO's original plans to reclassify out of the NCAA's highest tier.
Slessinger and the Privateer men's basketball program took another step towards “honoring the past and building the future” by signing six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday. Four of the players hail from Louisiana, including two that prepped in the metro New Orleans area.
The second-year head coach anticipates adding several more players during the current signing period.
Slessinger and the Privateers are presently slated to open the 2012-13 season in November. A schedule will be released this summer.
