Big Easy Tennis Classic Draws
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans tennis program will open the fall portion of its 2012-13 schedule by hosting the Big Easy Classic at the University Tennis Center this weekend.
Beginning on Friday with opening round play, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) sanctioned tournament will conclude Sunday. Matches begin at 9 a.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with Sunday's schedule to be determined. Admission is free to the public.
The draw for the tournament consists of three flights of singles' play with one flight of doubles. A consolation bracket will consist of participants who fell in the opening round of competition. In addition to the individual brackets, each of the squads will be vying for a team championship. Points will be awarded to institutions based on wins in both the main draw and consolation tournaments.
UNO is joined in the field by men's teams from Alcorn State, Loyola, Nicholls State, South Alabama, Tulane and Xavier. The women's bracket consists of ASU, LU, McNeese State, NSU, Southern Illinois, Troy and XULA.
Featured singles' and doubles' players for UNO include 2012 ITA All-Americans
Ricardo Campos and
Hossam Meligy. The duo is the top seed in the doubles' draw with Campos and Meligy also seeded third in their respective singles' flights.
Other Privateer representatives seeded in the event include

Fanny Benincasa and
Marta Sans. Curcija is the highest seeded player in the group, sitting atop the Flight 3 singles' bracket.
