HOUSTON, Texas – Three New Orleans Privateers (15-9, 2-2) homered and everyone in the lineup got a hit during an 18-3 win over the HBU Huskies (8-18, 2-2) on Friday afternoon at Husky Field.
DECISIONS
Tyler LeBlanc picked up the win after going a solid six innings with two earned runs allowed on five hits. LeBlanc threw 113 pitches (65 strikes) and struck out four batters. Daxton Tinker was charged with the loss after surrendering five earned runs (six total) in two innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers wasted little time jumping to an early lead. After both teams went scoreless in the first, New Orleans went to work in the second inning. Two singles and a walk set the stage for
Tyler Bischke who drove in the first of four runs in the inning. Three batters later,
Kasten Furr had his first of three hits, a double that scored two.
The Huskies responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame. A Tyler LaRue triple and a Jake Miller double cut the Privateer lead to 4-2 after two innings.
That was as close as the Huskies got on the afternoon though as New Orleans put up six runs in the third.
Anthony Herron Jr. led off the frame with the first of three homers for New Orleans on the day.
Travis Gober also hit his second career triple during the inning.
New Orleans continued to pile on against the HBU pen.
Issac Williams hit his first career home run in the fifth inning, a two-run shot that made it 12-3. Furr followed an inning later with his second career homer to cap a 3-for-4 day with five RBI.
Pearce Howard went 2-for-5 with two RBI. He is now at 171 career RBI and he moved past Stuart Weidie for sixth place on the program's all-time list.
The Privateers also turned two double plays, running their season total to 27. Gober went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs while Williams finished 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Jeissy De la Cruz went 2-for-4 and scored twice while Bischke scored four runs.
Friday marked the ninth game the Privateers scored 10 or more runs. They are 8-1 in those contests.
On the mound,
Collin Kulivan came in and worked through the seventh in just nine pitches.
