NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (2-0) kept their perfect start to the season alive with a 12-2 run-rule victory over the Grambling State Tigers (1-1) on Saturday evening at Maestri Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers took advantage of a walk, two hit batters, and pair of Tiger errors to jump out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning.

Jorge Tejeda making it 10-0 at the end of the second.
After the Tigers scored in the top of the seventh,
Kasten Furr hit a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh before
Pearce Howard singled him in to ensure the run-rule victory in front of 517 at Maestri Field.
DECISIONS
Dylan Porter (1-0) got the first victory in his first start for the Privateers after pitching four shutout innings. Porter struck out seven Tigers with a single walk on 59 pitches. Connor Rudy (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers after allowing eight runs – three earned – with a walk and two hit batsmen in just a single inning.
AT THE PLATE
- Furr went 2-for-5 with a double.

HERRON GOES YARD
A noted power hitter prior to joining the Privateers, Herron Jr. hit a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the sixth for his first home run on the Lakefront. He hit 17 home runs last season at the JUCO level.
