Baton Rouge, Louisiana- University of New Orleans freshman
Lilli Richter turned in two season's best performances Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Track and Field Meet at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.
UNO was among 23 schools at the meet including Southland Conference members Nicholls, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State and Southeastern Louisiana as they continue preparations for the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships in three weeks.
Richter recorded season's best in the 200-meters (25:51) and the 400-meters (57:65). The freshman did the 200-400 double under rather difficult circumstances.
"What was good about Lilli's day was she did those times back-to-back", said head track and field coach
Benjamin Dalton. The events where ten to twenty minutes apart. She's just got to keep doing it."
In other notable performances, Latoya Harris finished 8th in the 800-meter run with a personal best mark of 2:23.50.
In the shot put, freshman Nicholas Mitchell went 15.81 meters for an eighth place finish.
"That was a good day for Nicholas." Dalton continued, "He's had injury problems and it shows he's coming around from those injuries,"
Dalton also said expected good performances in the distance races were affected by the warm weather.
The Privateers now head to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the Southern Miss Open, Friday and Saturday, Apr. 28-29.
The University of New Orleans will host the 2017 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium, Friday-Sunday, May 12-14.
