Privateers Baseball's Preston Marsh Named LSWA Hitter of the Week

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – After a week that featured 11 RBIs, University of New Orleans first baseman, Preston Marsh was named Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hitter of the Week. The announcement was made late Monday afternoon.

Marsh clubbed three homers and had a slugging percentage of 1.187 as the Privateers started their week with a 23-3 win over Southern. Marsh hit his first home run of the week that night and scored four runs, becoming the second Privateer to do that in a game this season. Marsh also hit a double in the contest and was 4-for-5 at the plate.

Over the weekend against Central Arkansas, Marsh's power display continued. After going 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in the series opener, Marsh homered in both games of a doubleheader UNO played on Saturday against the Bears.

His first occurred in the first game when Marsh unloaded the bases with a sixth inning grand slam. In the nightcap, Marsh had a strong finale by drilling a three-run first inning homer to give the Privateers a 4-0 lead after the first inning of their eventual series finale victory.

Marsh raised his batting average 30 points over the week and is now hitting .317. He also became the sixth Privateer this season to reach the 30-RBI mark. The senior first baseman has played in 42 of the Privateers' 43 games and has started 40.

Season tickets for the 2016 campaign are available for as low as $125 and single-game tickets start at $5. For additional information, contact the UNO Athletics Ticket Office at (504) 280-GAME (4263) or click HERE.
