Overall thoughts on the game
"It was a crazy night. I could say some wonderful coachspeak or philosophical stuff, but we won a crazy game. I don't know how we did it. We figured out a way to make a few plays, to make a few less wrong plays and make enough right plays. It seems like every time we get in a game with Corpus, this is the way it plays out. It was good that we came out on this side of it for once. Our guys played very unselfishly again. They played really hard and I'm so proud of how unselfish they acted. They wanted to win for the team. They didn't care who was scoring or who got the credit. We didn't play pretty. We didn't play right all the time. We had turnovers that were unforced and were unacceptable, and that's something that we have to fix, but dangonit we found a way to win and I'll take 2-0 in this 18-game run for sure."

On the performance of senior guard Nate Frye off the bench
"He gave us a huge lift. We struggled so bad offensively to start the game for whatever reason and he came in and gave us a huge spark, which we needed. He was solid defensively tonight. It was probably the best defensive night he's had since he's been back. We had really, really good effort from a lot of people. We had some good efforts from guys whose contributions won't show up on the stat sheet. [Jorge] Rosa came in and was really solid. He wasn't flustered and had a good defensive effort.
Michael Zeno came in and took the challenge of guarding Rashawn Thomas, one of the best post players in the league, and really did a great job on him after [Travin] Thibodeaux got four fouls. And then [Makur] Puou came in in overtime after being on the bench for a while and changed a couple of shots with contests and got a big rebound. He was huge. All three of guys were really the unsung heroes."

On the job his staff and student-athletes did in preparing for this game
"The staff did an incredible job. They got these guys ready. The scouting report was spot on. We had 30 hours to turn it around. Corpus had nine days to get ready for us. Our guys really believe in us being a blue-collar team, they believe in being a tough team and, tonight, you saw that resolve."
Â
On the upcoming week with games at Lamar and Incarnate Word
"We've got a huge Texas swing. We've got to face Lamar and head coach Tic Price, the former head coach here who I have a ton of respect for. There are a lot of commonalities on our staff and teams. It'll be a dog fight. They had a really good non-conference run. Then we go to Incarnate Word, where it's a really tough place to play in San Antonio. It'll be as tough of a two-game road swing as we will see. We're anxious to get going. We're anxious to get better this week. We're not going to be satisfied with where we're at. We've got a long way to go. We've got 16 more miles to run in this 18-mile race."
