PRESS CONFERENCE | SCHEDULE | PRINTABLE SCHEDULE | ICAL DOWNLOAD | GOOGLE CALENDAR DOWNLOADNEW ORLEANS, La. – After putting together one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, the New Orleans men's basketball team got its first look at its slate of games for the 2015-16 campaign as head coach
Mark Slessinger released the team's schedule in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
"It's definitely a very diverse schedule we've put together," said Slessinger. "But I think it's also a schedule that we can compete against both out of conference and in. Our guys get to play in some exciting venues and it's going to set us up nicely for our Southland Conference portion of the schedule."
The schedule tips off on Nov. 14 as the Privateers fly north for the season opener at Bowling Green followed by a bout against Duquesne two days later on Nov. 16.
New Orleans is then set to make its home debut on Nov. 19 with Pensacola Christian College in the Lakefront Arena.
Following the lone home contest for New Orleans in November, the Privateers are back on the road for four straight, heading to Bradley on Nov. 25 and Northwestern on Nov. 28 before a rivalry showdown at Tulane on Dec. 2.
"We're so excited to have Tulane back on the schedule," added Slessinger. "It's exciting for the city to get this game up and going again and it's exciting for both schools and their students."
The road trip ends for the Privateers on Dec. 5 at Ball State.
Back at home on Dec. 12, New Orleans will play host to Williams Baptist College before hitting the trails once again, taking to UMass on Dec. 16 with an in-state rival meeting with Louisiana-Lafayette on Dec. 21.
New Orleans then wraps-up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a home game on Dec. 29 against Blue Mountain College.
After winning its Southland Conference opener in 2014-15 over Lamar at home, New Orleans heads to Beaumont, Texas to take on the Cardinals to spark off the 2015-15 SLC schedule on Jan. 4. Remaining in Texas, the Privateers will face Sam Houston State on Jan. 9.
Back at the friendly confines of the Lakefront Arena, the Privateers will enjoy six home games over their next seven contests after the road-heavy early portion of their schedule.
It all starts off on Jan. 11 with a showdown against Incarnate Word followed by a Jan. 16 game against Houston Baptist with 2014-15 conference champ Stephen F. Austin heading to New Orleans on Jan. 18.
Heading back to the road for one game, the Privateers travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Jan. 23 before three more at home against Central Arkansas on Jan. 25, McNeese State on Jan. 30 and Nicholls on Feb. 1.
The Privateers then flip the script, hitting the road for six out of their next seven with back-to-back games against Central Arkansas and McNeese State kicking things off.
New Orleans returns home to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi preceding four consecutive away games at Northwestern State on Feb. 20, at Southeastern on Feb. 23, at Abilene Christian on Feb. 27 and at Nicholls on Feb. 29.
The Privateers are then set to wrap-up the regular season at home with a pair of contests against in-state conference foes in Southeastern on March 3 and Northwestern State on March 5.
Southland Conference Tournament action begins on March 9-12 in Katy, Texas.
