Blake Dean Named Interim Head Coach of Privateers Baseball

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of New Orleans Department of Athletics has named Blake Dean its Interim Head Baseball Coach. Director of Athletics Derek Morel made the appointment official in a statement Thursday afternoon.
 
Dean, who has spent the previous two seasons as the hitting coach for the Privateers, will become the team's interim head coach effective Monday, May 25.
 
The former LSU standout and 2009 College World Series champion replaces Hall of Fame coach Ron Maestri, who announced his retirement from the program earlier this week.
 
A nationwide search for a successor to Coach Maestri is underway. The application process will open Tuesday, May 26; All interested and qualified candidates should visit the university's website at www.uno.edu/jobs for more information.
