THE GAME:The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (14-36, 3-24 Southland) will look to snap a seven-game losing skid in their second meeting with the LSU Tigers (43-8, 19-7 SEC) on Tuesday night at Maestri Field at First NBC Ballpark. First pitch for the game will be at 6:37 p.m. and will be televised on CST.Â
The contest is presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and tickets are still available. Â
The Privateers were swept over the weekend against Nicholls and managed just four runs on the weekend. In the series finale, New Orleans was shut out 6-0 despite being even in the hit column with the Colonels. On the weekend, the Privateers committed seven errors and allowed seven first inning runs.

The Tigers won their sixth straight conference series when they finished off a sweep of Missouri with a 6-5 win on Sunday in 10 innings. LSU has played nine games that have gone extra innings with eight coming in conference and they are 5-4 in those contests. As a team, the Tigers have a .320 batting average and a 2.89 ERA.

In his ninth season, Paul Mainieri has guided LSU to seven 40-win seasons including four straight. Mainieri has won 404 games to date in Baton Rouge. The Tigers were ranked #1 in every major poll. Three players are currently carrying hitting streaks of 10 or more games: Alex Bregman (16), Chris Chinea (12), and Chris Sciambra (11). LSU has won nine of the last ten meetings against the Privateers.

NEWS AND NOTES:OUCH:
Preston Marsh became the latest Privateer to go down after he was forced to leave Friday's game against Nicholls because of a knee injury.
Jonathan Coco has been out for the last two weeks with a back injury while pitchers,
Shawn Semple and
Alex Smith are also out. Marsh was second on the team in RBIs with 20 prior to the weekend.

HITTING FOR AVERAGE:
The Privateers enter the final week of the season hitting .271. New Orleans is sixth in the conference in hits with 462. In the last four seasons prior to this year, the Privateers hit over .250 just once (.252 in 2012).

Including the three games over the weekend against Nicholls, the Privateers have given up five or more runs 31 times and are 1-30 in those contests. The Privateers are also 1-25 this season when getting out-hit by an opponent.

MOVING UP THE CHARTS:
Ryan Calloway has boosted his batting average to .343 which currently sits him fifth in the league. Calloway is also tied for fifth in hits with 69 after turning in his second four-hit performance of the weekend on Sunday. Calloway has collected multi-hit efforts in six of his last seven games.
