BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (11-21, 2-10 Southland) fell behind early and gave up six runs with two outs in an 11-2 loss to the LSU Tigers (28-5, 7-4 SEC) on Tuesday evening at Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field.

The Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead, scoring solo runs in the second, third, and fourth inning. LSU got the scoring started when a two-out wild pitch by starter,
Kevin Kelleher scored Chris Chinea. The Tigers got RBI knocks by Kade Scivicque and Chris Sciambra before the Privateers had a response waiting in the fifth.

After a one-out
Parker Jones single,
Chaz Boyer was hit by a pitch to put two on against LSU starter, Kyle Bouman. The Privateers then struck the board when
Ryan Calloway dropped a double into left to score a run. The Tigers went to the pen and
Samuel Capielano drove in a second run on an RBI ground out to make it 3-2.

LSU managed to stay ahead heading to the bottom of the frame and saw their inning continue after a two-out error. Chinea then came up and hit his second double of the night, driving in two to extend the Tigers' lead back to 5-2.

After the fifth, the Tigers were able to steadily pull away, plating at least a run in each inning from the second through the eighth. Sciambra hit his first home run of the season in the seventh. The Tigers wound up with 14 hits including three each from Sciambra, Scivicque, and Chinea. The win went to Reynolds who allowed three hits and one walk in 3.2 innings of relief.

The Privateers wound up with nine hits on the evening, three of them coming off the bat of Jones. Also turning in multi-hit nights were Calloway who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Jonathan Coco also added two hits in four trips to the plate. The Privateers used seven different pitchers on the night and nobody threw more than two innings.

New Orleans will next travel to Northwestern State for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
