Coach Slessinger's Quotes Following Tuesday's Win Over Blue Mountain College

GAME RECAP | GAME BOOK (PDF)

On being 3-0 at home and claiming the program's 300th win in Lakefront Arena

"It's amazing to think about the history that goes with this building. Every morning when I come to work here, I still pinch myself. I'm blessed and lucky enough to be the head coach here. It's the best basketball facility in the South, in my opinion, and then you add in all the history with all the greats that were able to coach here. You can go back to Coach [Ron] Greene and Don Smith, Benny Dees, Tim Floyd, Tic Price. The list goes on and on. There have been a lot of great guys that have coached here and to be here for the 300th win is important to me in a lot of ways."

On the way UNO played tonight
"I was proud that they played team basketball throughout the game. We didn't have any possessions where I thought there were bad shots or selfish shots. They were good in that respect. We played good, solid team defense. We were able to get our press going, force them into some turnovers and played with some speed defensively, which was important for us – especially coming off of the break."

On posting 18 steals and turning that into 31 points off turnovers
"I was just excited that we played efficiently on offense. We had a lot of guys that had good nights as far as being able to score the ball at a good rate and being solid. We did a good job of guarding their actions well and taking them out of the things they wanted to do offensively."

On the overall productivity of the offense
"It was another good night for Nate. He had four assists and no turnovers. Over the last three games, his numbers have been very good and he's been really efficient. We had guys come in and have good nights offensively and those are the guys that have played well in practice and training. They've been really good so it's nice to see them get rewarded in the game. Most importantly, it was a good team win. It gives us a little bit of momentum going into Monday night when we start this 18-game league run in conference."

On conference play being like starting a whole new season
"You get to start over. It's a new season. We finished non-conference at 4-7. I wish we could have gotten two or three more of those to turn this around, but our team improved throughout all of this and got better. I'm anxious to start this run for a championship and get ready for a run at making the NCAA Tournament."
