NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team has added
Anthony Brown to the coaching staff as volunteer assistant, announced the New Orleans Athletic Department on Monday afternoon.
"We are excited about having Anthony join our staff, and I am confident that he will help us advance the Privateer baseball program," said Head Baseball Coach
Ron Maestri. "Anthony has hit the ground running, and is already making an impact. We are happy to have him."
Brown played football while attending South Alabama. He also played the 2007 baseball season at Northwest Florida State College. Brown was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 23rd round of the 2006 MLB Draft and was signed in '07 as a Draft and Follow. Brown spent three seasons in the Reds organization and drove in 104 runs.
A Florida native, Brown attended Crestview High School, the same school as Privateers assistant coach,
Blake Dean. At Crestview, Brown lettered three seasons in both football and baseball.
Brown graduated from South Alabama with a degree in criminal justice. Currently he is pursuing his Masters in public administration.
