NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers Athletic Department has hired New Orleans native and McNeese State alum,
Brandon Scardigli as the new media relations director, the department announced this week.
Scardigli brings a lot of experience in a short amount of time since graduating from Brother Martin High School in 2006. Most recently, Scardigli was the assistant director for athletic communications at Kennesaw State in Atlanta, Ga., a position he held since 2012. At Kennesaw, Scardigli was the main contact for the baseball and men's basketball team and handled all department graphic design duties.
"I am truly excited to come home and be a part of the Privateer family. New Orleans has an opportunity to be a top-tier member of the Southland Conference and I look forward to helping bring the media relations department to the forefront. Athletic Director
Derek Morel has set the department up for success moving forward and I am thrilled to be here during this time of growth and to have a staff already in place that I believe will help do an outstanding job and bring the university to the next level," said Scardigli.
Also while at Kennesaw State, Scardigli served on the university's branding and creative services committee. He also led communication efforts for the baseball team, which made it to the NCAA Super Regional in 2014 and for First Round MLB draft pick, Max Pentecost.
Prior to his experience at Kennesaw State, Scardigli was in the Florida panhandle where he served as sports information assistant at West Florida and as a production assistant for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, AA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
In 2010, Scardigli spent a year at Newberry College in South Carolina. At Newberry, Scardigli designed media guides, managed student assistant staff, and was the contact for the men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, and softball teams.
Scardigli started his career in sports information during his college days at McNeese State. A communications major, Scardigli worked under famed sports director Louis Bonnette in his time in Lake Charles where he instituted the use of game day programs for baseball, assisted in radio broadcasts, and assisted in coverage of 14 sports.
Scardigli graduated from McNeese State in 2010 with a 4.0 GPA, and is a member of COSIDA. He is also a head judge for the COSIDA Publications Committee and has previously served on the Atlantic Sun Conference Sports Information Committee. Scardigli is recently married to his wife, Lauren.
