Game Recap

NORMAN, Okla. – Fans tuning into a nationally-televised contest on Saturday between New Orleans and No. 10 Oklahoma were able to witness just the third triple play in UNO school history during the game's first inning.

Four straight batters reached base for OU in their first trip to the plate as the hosts took a 1-0 lead. With the bases loaded and not a single out registered, the Sooners' Hunter Haley lined out to Privateer second baseman Zach Pohto.

Pohto tossed the ball to shortstop Zach Liberto, who touched second for a force out of Max White before throwing the ball to first baseman Zacary Hawkins who was able to retire Anthony Hermelyn at first.

The triple play was the first for the Privateer baseball program since Feb. 14, 1995 in a contest against Southeastern Louisiana. The very first triple play in school history was recorded on Mar. 2, 1991 against Miami (Fla.).

UNO's series with nationally-ranked OU is being televised on Fox College Sports all weekend. The teams will meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
