FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Playing their first two road games of the season, the New Orleans Privateers were swept by nationally-ranked Arkansas in a Tuesday doubleheader at Baum Stadium.

Ranked No. 1 in the Coaches Poll and No. 3 by Baseball America, Arkansas (4-1) claimed the first game 14-0 in seven innings before overcoming solid UNO (0-5) pitching for a 3-0 result in the nightcap.

With Stone Speer unavailable to start as planned, Privateer head coach Bruce Peddie looked to freshman Blake Prest (0-1) in the day's second game.

Making his first collegiate start, Prest held the Razorbacks to a single run on five hits over five innings of work. The Holy Cross product's work alongside the efforts of Jordan Fontenelle and Raymond Winter limited Arkansas to a season-low three runs and seven hits.

In addition to posting a run on the scoreboard in the second inning, the Razorbacks scored a single run in both the sixth and seventh innings. The finally two scores – one earned- came against Fontenelle.

Matt Vinson led Arkansas with a 2-for-4 outing in the nightcap while Jake Wise was responsible for a pair of RBIs. Landon Simpson (1-0) took the win, allowing three hits over three innings with Jalen Beeks collecting his first save.

Chaz Boyer was UNO's offensive player of note, producing a pair of hits in his four at-bats.

The second game was a change of pace from the opener, in which the Razorbacks struck early by plating 10 runs on nine hits in the first three innings.

Arkansas took advantage of six walks and three wild pitches to plate those early runs, chasing Privateer starter Daniel Martinez (0-1) after the freshman allowed eight runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings of the mound.

The Razorbacks added to their tally with two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings. The game was called after seven innings due to the 'run-rule'.

Colin Poche (1-0) won his collegiate debut after holding UNO to a single hit while striking out six in five innings. Dan Perkins was responsible for the hit, collecting a single with two outs in the fifth.

Overall, Arkansas had 12 hits in the contest led by Jacob Mahan. The second baseman was 3-for-5 with a team-high four RBIs. Tyler Spoon and Brent McAfee had two hits apiece with Brian Anderson accounting for four runs with just one official plate appearance.

UNO will begin a three-game series at South Alabama on Friday. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

NOTES

Originally scheduled to be a midweek series with 3:05 p.m. starts each day, Tuesday became a doubleheader due to the threat of inclement weather for Wednesday's contest.

Both previously scheduled starting pitchers for Wednesday's contest – UNO LHP Stone Speer and Arkansas RHP Trey Killian – were unable to start. Both pitchers threw their previously scheduled bullpen session on Monday in anticipation for a Wednesday start. The Privateers started with Blake Prest while the Razorbacks looked to Landon Simpson.

UNO's doubleheader represents the first two of 13 straight games on the road. The Privateers will not return home until playing Alcorn State on Mar. 12 and 13 at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

In the eighth inning of Tuesday's nightcap, Chaz Boyer stole second base. The product of Lafayette HS and native of Carcencro, La. has stolen a base in four of the team's five contests this season.
