NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans 'First Lady' Lori Fos will serve as an honorary coach this Saturday as the Lady Privateers women's basketball team hosts Southern Miss at 12 p.m. at Lakefront Arena.

"I am elated and honored to have Mrs. Lori Fos serve as our honorary coach,” said UNO head coach Keeshawn Carter. “President Fos and Mrs. Lori have been dedicated and loyal fans since they arrived on campus.

“Even though their seats are courtside, I welcome Mrs. Fos to have a closer view from the bench."

Mrs. Fos has ties to both schools, earning her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from UNO before receiving a Master's degree from Southern Miss, where she also spent time as an instructor.

This is not the first time a member of the Fos family has served in an honorary coaching capacity. President Peter J. Fos served as an honorary coach while working at USM.

“I have heard that Dr. Fos is undefeated as an honorary coach for USM,” said Carter. “I just want Mrs. Lori to be undefeated as well!

A regular at Lakefront Arena, the 'First Lady' of UNO can be found cheering on the Privateers and Lady Privateers courtside along with her husband and University President, Dr. Fos.

Tickets are on-sale at the Lakefront Arena Box Office at a cost of $5 for adults and $2 for youth.

The next women's basketball home game following Saturday will occur on Jan. 12 when the Lady Privateers host Houston Baptist at 2 p.m. The contest is the backend of a doubleheader with the Privateer men's basketball team.
