NEW ORLEANS – Members of the New Orleans men's and women's tennis teams took part in the House of Blues “Feed the Souls” event this past Thanksgiving Day.

The “Feed the Souls” campaign's goal was to serve 20,000 meals across all 12 House of Blues venues during Thanksgiving.

The tennis team was stationed at the House of Blues location in downtown New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day for the annual sit-down dinner.

Members of the team helped with setup, served meals and enjoyed conversation with groups from the St. Bernard Project, Covenant House, Crescent House Empowerment, Boys Town and other non-profit organizations. The volunteers served up a traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables, rolls and pumpkin pie.

“Our student-athletes mixed in really well with all the people they interacted with at House of Blues this past Thanksgiving,” said head coach Burzis Kanga. “They did whatever they were asked to do by the organizers of the event and were more than willing to play their part in giving back to our community.”
