NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will seek to get back in the win column on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Lakefront Arena as Bethune-Cookman comes to town.
The game will be broadcast on WGSO 990 AM and via the Internet on WGSO.com. Fans can also tune into to a live video broadcast on the pay-per-view UNO Showcase located at UNOPrivateers.com.
UNO is 1-1 on the season following a loss on Monday to Southern Illinois.
Junior transfer
Cory Dixon netted a game-high 15 points against the Salukis and became the first Privateer newcomer to post double-figures in their first two games since the 2010-11 season.
Dixon's average of 14 points an outing ranks second on the squad behind
Lovell Cook, who leads the team with 14.5 points a game.
Rarlensee Nelson is the third-leading scorer with an average of eight points to go along with his team-best six assists per contest.
Through two contests, Privateer opponents are averaging 24 turnovers a game. With SIU and San Jose State both having eclipsed the 20 turnover plateau, a total of 14 UNO foes in 34 games under head coach
Mark Slessinger have totaled at least 20 miscues.
The defensive pressure by the Privateers extends to outside shooters, who are struggling to the tune of a 21.1 percent clip from beyond arc against UNO this year.
The Privateers will look to maintain their strong three-point defense against a B-CU (0-2) program that is averaging 21.5 three-point attempts per contest while making their long-range shots 30.2 percent of the time.
The Wildcats' leading scorer Kevin Dukes is averaging 14.5 points per game and has attempted 16 of his 22 field goal attempts from beyond the arc. Adrien Coleman provides the inside presence for B-CU with 11.5 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per contest. Alex Smith shares the team lead in rebounds with Coleman.
Both games for the Wildcats have been eerily similar on the scoreboard as the squad dropped a 65-55 contest at St. Bonaventure to open the season before falling by the exact same tally against Tulane on Tuesday night.
Thursday's meeting is the first between UNO and BC-U. The Privateers are 10-3 all-time against members of the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Season and group tickets remain on-sale by calling (504) 280-GAME or e-mailing

Next on the floor for the Privateers is a contest against NAIA foe Blue Mountain College on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Tip is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will occur following a UNO women's basketball game against Arkansas-Monticello slated for 5 p.m.
