Weather Halts Play for UNO Women's Tennis at Lady Demon Invite

Benincasa, Sans Conclude Fall with 4-1 Doubles' Record

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The New Orleans women's tennis team saw play come to an immediate halt with the cancellation of Sunday's matches at the Lady Demon Invite due to weather.

Scheduled to take the court on Sunday was the UNO doubles' tandem of Fanny Benincasa and Marta Sans. The duo was slated to play in the championship match of the 'Flight 2' bracket against Mackenzie Osin of Southern Miss and Lamar's Alessandra Pennessi.

With Sunday's cancellation, the Privateer women's tennis slate for the fall has concluded.

Through two tournaments, Benincasa and Sans have posted wins in 4 of 5 matches to pace the UNO doubles' entrants. Paula Sanchez and Victoria Svensson managed a .500 record with a 1-1 mark.

In singles' play, Kristina Martic and Soledad Arroyo stand as the only two players to register at least two victories. Martic is 2-2 on the season with Arroyo  concluding the fall with a 2-3 record.

The squad is tentatively slated to resume its schedule on Jan. 30 at South Alabama with a home opener of Feb. 2 against Nicholls State. A full schedule will be announced later in the fall.
