Farewell Lady Privateers' Friends, Family, and Fans…
It has truly been a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of this illustrious program, however brief it may have been. I would like to thank all of you who supported the LPs this season and I hope that you will continue to support the LPs as they transition into the future.
To the coaching staff…
First, Coach Champ, we all wish you abundant success as you lead this program moving forward. In our opinion, there couldn't have been a better or more knowledgeable person chosen.
The coaching staff deserves the most praise of all. Day in and day out, you tirelessly worked to keep us focused amidst all the adversity. I learned very early on in my basketball career that, “Success has many parents, but failure is an orphan.” I thank you, the coaches, for being one of those many parents that have helped me to grow and succeed this year. I think I can speak for everyone when I say, words cannot express how utterly grateful we are for all the lessons and teachings you have provided us with on and off the basketball court that have helped to prepare us for this next step in our lives, wherever that may be.
To the 2009-2010 LPs…
I don't think anyone could have predicted our season. It's no secret; we weren't nearly as successful on the basketball court as any one of us had hoped for. But maybe, just maybe this time, we need not measure our success with the wins and loss column, but with the amount of adversity we faced and overcame. There are people in this world that would have bowed out or backed down in our situation, but not us.
We focused on taking care of task A before task B, one of our team themes all year long. Never losing our composure, we showed great character and represented UNO with class and dignity. It has sincerely been an honor, not only to play alongside all of you this season, but to get to know each and every one of you off the basketball court. I wish all of you the best of luck in any future endeavor.
To the 2010-2011 LPs…
There are a few things you should understand about being a Lady Privateer. First, know that you are receiving some of the best coaches in the business. Second, beware of the BUBBLE! And lastly, cherish your time wearing your Privateer blue because time truly flies when you're having fun!
Good luck and I wish you all the best.
And last but not least to the Lady Privateers' Fans…
The game of basketball has afforded me many opportunities and an abundance of joy. It is my sincere wish that you find something in your own life that can bring you the kind of joy that I have been fortunate enough to experience through the game of basketball.
Your unwavering support for the last nine months has been deeply heartfelt. I speak for all the LPs when I say that we could not be any more appreciative for our friends, family, and fans that without hesitation cheered us on through the ups and downs of this season. I truly hope that you will continue to support and encourage all of us as we strive to achieve our goals whether it is at a new school, on a new team, or in the working world.
As for me, my time here in Nawlins has been well spent, but now it's time for me to go back to pahking my car in Hahvahd Yahd.
ONCE A PRIVATEER, ALWAYS A PRIVATEER!
With the utmost respect and gratitude,
Amanda “Boston” McCarthy
