Men's Basketball Wrapping Up Homestand on Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team will wrap up a three-game homestand with a 7 p.m. matchup against Mobile on Wednesday at Lakefront Arena.

The game can be heard locally on WGSO 990 AM or online at WGSO.com. Fans can also watch the game online thanks to UNO Vision. Log on to UNOPrivateers.com for subscription information.

The Privateers (2-1) are trying to make it a perfect homestand. UNO is coming off wins over Southern-New Orleans and Texas State last week and will be meeting an NAIA opponent for the second time in the last seven days.

Mobile started the year with four wins in its first five outings prior to Tuesday's game at Louisiana-Lafayette. The Rams have three scorers averaging double figures and are led by junior guard Donte Walker (19.6 points per game).

"This is an opportunity for us to get better," said UNO head coach Joe Pasternack. "We did a much better job rebounding and defending against Texas State, and we're looking to improve on that (Wednesday). Mobile is going to come after us, and I want us to match their intensity."

The Privateers are coming off a solid 67-55 win over Texas State on Saturday. Senior guard Billy Humphrey had 23 points and is averaging 24.5 points per game during the homestand.

Humphrey was recognized as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday and is currently averaging 20 points per game overall.

He has been complemented by New Orleans native Charles Carmouche (11.3 ppg) and junior center Jaroslav Tyrna (10.7 ppg).

The Privateers also got some big contributions from the backcourt.

Freshman point guard Carl Blair had 10 rebounds and eight assists against Texas State, while reserve guard Devin McDonald chipped in 11 points against the Bobcats.

UNO students can attend the game free with a valid school ID. For more ticket information, please call 504-280-GAME or visit UNOPrivateers.com.
