MONROE, La. - Rachele Monroe scored four crucial points in the final minute of play as the University of New Orleans snapped an eight-game road losing streak with a 58-51 victory over ULM at the Fant-Ewing Arena on Wednesday night.

In a game that saw 12 ties and 10 lead changes, UNO (10-16, 4-11 Sun Belt) emerged in the second half to win on the road for the first time since Dec. 1 at Southeastern Louisiana.

Brittany Helm was the leading scorer for the Lady Privateers, scoring 16 points, bolstered by 8 of 10 shooting from the charity stripe. Nicole Holmes added 12 points while Candice McGee scored eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

ULM (9-17, 3-13 SBC) fell for the fourth straight game, largely due to a 28.8 percent shooting performance. Priscilla Mbiandja had 14 points to pace the Warhawks with Sannisha Williams chipping in 11.

After ULM had gained their largest lead of the game at 31-26 at the start of the second half, the Lady Privateers went to work.

Consecutive three-pointers by Holmes moved UNO ahead 32-31. The teams would tie twice more, the last time at 37-37, before the Lady Privateers gained control of the game for good.

The Warhawks did threaten however, getting within one at 50-49 before Monroe nailed a jumper to push the UNO lead to three with 57 seconds remaining. On the next possession, Monroe made both ends of a one and one situation to secure the Lady Privateer win.

ULM took a 29-26 lead into the half after scoring the final seven points of the first 20 minutes.

The hosts maintained the advantage at the break despite a 45 percent shooting performance by the Lady Privateers, who held the Warhawks to 28.6 percent during the first 20 minutes.

The Lady Privateers will hit the floor this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Denver in the final home game of the regular season. Prior to tip, UNO will honor their seniors as part of Senior Day festivities.
