NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans women's tennis team will play two regional foes this week, hosting Southeastern La. on Monday at 2 p.m. before heading crosstown Wednesday for a dual at Goldring Tennis Center at 3 p.m. against Tulane.

UNO (1-0) will keep their fingers crossed that the rain keeps its distance from the Crescent City as inclement weather has scrapped matches against Louisiana Tech, Grambling and Jackson State over the first two weeks of the season.

Despite all the weather, the Privateer women have been able to play one match, a 5-2 victory over Southern on Jan. 31. Playing with just five players, UNO stepped up with four singles' victories and two wins in doubles'.

Head coach Burzis Kanga is hopeful to have a full lineup in place this week and will need to in order to challenge SLU (1-1) and Tulane (2-1).

This week's Privateer foes met on Saturday with the Green Wave winning by a 6-1 decision at home against the Lions.

UNO squeaked past SLU on Mar. 23 during the 2009 dual season with a 4-3 victory. The Lions were playing short, forcing them to concede the No. 6 singles'and No. 3 doubles' matches, allowing the Privateers the win.

Audrey Chelini plays the No. 1 position and has split a pair of matches. Annika Hanke was the lone member of the SLU roster to pick up a win over Tulane, defeating Emma Helisten 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 on the No. 5 singles' court.

On Wednesday, UNO will face a Tulane team that won last year's dual 5-2 by claiming the top five singles' matches following a setback in doubles' play.

Miriam Kurdaze is the top player for the Green Wave this year with an 11-5 record, including a 3-0 mark on the No. 1 court in dual play. Emma Levy, who plays at No. 3 is also 3-0 during the dual season.

The Privateers will have nearly 10 days off following Wednesday's dual as the team will next compete Feb. 19 at Northwestern State.
