CHOUDRANT, La. - The University of New Orleans golf team will hit the links for the second straight week, competing at the Bulldog Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament, hosted by Louisiana Tech, will take place at Squire Creek Country Club - a track well-known by the Privateers. UNO won the Squire Creek Intercollegiate last fall and have won the last two college tournaments at the 7,105-yard layout.
The Privateers, who finished tied for eighth at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette last week, have just two events remaining before the Sun Belt Conference Tournament April 26 through 28.
"I like the position we're in right now," said UNO head coach Chris McCarter. "We've gotten some really steady play from a couple of guys, and if we can just get a little more consistency throughout the lineup, we can compete with a lot of teams."
Junior Ken Looper is ranked fourth in the Sun Belt in scoring average (72.10) and is coming off a third-place individual finish in Lafayette. The Mandeville product combined to shoot 6-under par in the final two rounds last week.
Joining Looper will be junior Oscar Zetterwall (73.40), who is ranked 15th in the league in scoring. Zetterwall is coming off back-to-back top 10 finishes, including a tie for seventh at the Louisiana Classics.
The rest of the lineup includes sophomore Sebastian Szirmak (74.24), senior Hector Arias (74.81) and freshman Pablo Serna (78.80).
The field will play 36 holes on Monday before playing the final round on Tuesday morning.
