Lovell Cook
Men's Basketball
Lovell Cook averaged 17.5 points on 57.7 percent shooting from the field while adding 8.5 rebounds an outing to lead UNO to a pair of wins this past week.

Cook shot 11 of 16 from the field while scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the team's convincing 81-59 victory over Delta State earlier in the week. The former Warren East product continued his effort by shooting 4 of 10 on way to 13 points and eight rebounds in a 82-71 victory over SUNO. The win snapped a five-game win streak for SUNO.
Did You Know...
Javonne Brooks - UNO's Greatest Volleyball Player
On Oct. 29, 1992 Javonne Brooks broke the collegiate women's volleyball record for career kills in a 3-0 win over UT-Pan American. The 5'10" senior from Wharton, Texas broke the old record 2,767 held by Long Beach State's Tara Cross. Brooks finished with 2,932 kills and in 2005 was named the Sun Belt's All-Time Volleyball Player.
UNO - Original Member of Sun Belt
On Aug. 4, 1976 - the Sun Belt Conference was formed with UNO, South Alabama, Georgia State, Jacksonville, North Carolina-Charlotte and South Florida as charter members.    
First Games at Lakefront Arena
The Lakefront Arena hosted its first men’s basketball game with LSU winning 67-59 over the Privateers on Nov. 26, 1983. The first field goal was scored by UNO’s John Harris. The first game in the arena was in fact, a women's basketball game as the Lady Privateers fell 104-88 to LSU earlier in the day.        
UNO's First NCAA National Title

Led by NCAA Division II medalist Stan Stopa, who shot 292 for the tournament, the LSU-New Orleans golf team captured the first of two consecutive Division II men's golf national championships in May 1971, shooting a team score of 1,198 to defeat Cal St – Northridge by four strokes.        

First UNO Athletic Event in History
The Privateers men’s basketball team played their first game in school history on Dec. 1, 1969 at the Health and Physical Education Center on campus dropping a game 68-63 to Louisiana College. The Privateers would pick up the first win in school history one week later at West Florida during an 18-5 season under Ron Greene.
UNO & Conferences
The Gulf South Conference is the third home of UNO athletics. The department has been apart of the Sun Belt and American South Conferences.
Javonne Brooks - First Sugar Bowl VB Player
When Javonne Brooks was inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in July 2011, she became the first volleyball player to receive the 'call' from the Hall.
UNO Baseball - Louisiana's First CWS Team
The UNO baseball team was the first from Louisiana to reach the NCAA Division I College World Series. Head coach Ron Maestri's team reached the CWS in 1984.        
Johnny Giavotella - 11th Privateer Major Leaguer
Johnny Giavotella was called up to the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 4, 2011. He is the 11th Privateer to reach the majors. The 10th was Thomas Diamond a year prior.
